As dental professionals, we have a strong desire to help our patients achieve good oral health and have a pain-free, functional dentition.  However, sometimes factors such as patient age, behavior and anxieties, finances and comorbidities limit our ability to deliver care in an optimal environment.  How do we address this?  In this talk, we’ll delve into the ever-expanding realm of minimally invasive dentistry and explore how to effectively care for the young (your pediatric patients), the old (your geriatric patients) and the restless (any patient in between who may be anxious about traditional dental restorative treatment).

Learning objectives:

After this presentation, the practitioner will

  • Discover the difference between the surgical and medical models of caries treatment, and create a tailored approach to your patient’s care based on caries risk assessment

  • Be familiar with indications and application of caries prevention, treatment and arresting products such as fluoride varnish, silver diamine fluoride, MI paste and glass ionomers

  • Have an expanded armamentarium to include Hall crowns, SMART restorations and resin infiltration techniques

  • Understand how you can use these minimally invasive techniques to treat patients starting Monday
